Finally got to look up the shooting at characters rule. Shots are divided evenly if less than 5 rank-and file models. So you cannot target the character out. That is what I get for listening to Chuck.
This is Chuck,
I may have said that if there are 5 models left that you could target out the character model, but that is provided the character is one of those models. We even had a game where the Black knights were 5 strong with one character and I pointed that out and then agreed with you that you couldn't target him out,but the shots divided evenly could end up hitting and KB'ing the character...
WTH is going on with WoC, cover this please. Please elaborate on the book and what has changed, I have only heard of more or less Chaos getting overhauled X2!
OMG!!!!
In regards to MR(?). If a spell targets all enemy units but isn't directed against the MR(?) unit I do believe that you can use those dice against that unit. I believe this came up on our I-Con game several weeks ago. The book doesn't say it directly but it says "be used on their own against any spell targeted against the unit" page 95. Multiple MR's won't stack I don't believe but you could use your highest.
chuck
Yeah I did it wrong but after dice were thrown and feet stomped I felt that you needed some retribution, and thats why I am toning down my lists in some respects, because we don't need people leaving the sport or becoming negative, new races and other books can still be played and not broken.
Chuck - VC
We already discussed the MR issue on the local forum. Since it effects all units the spell does not provoke MR just like you could Gork's Warpath a non-MR unit initially then hit a MR unit afterward. Similarly we also agreed template spells do not provoke MR since the unit is not actually the target of a spell rather the caster is placing the template in a certain area. This is a topic along with magic in general I think would be a good topic to discuss for the next Waaagh Cast along with initial impressions of WoC. I don't think that your VC list needs to be intentionally weakened I just think there is less of a need to 1 up everyone else like you are used to doing with O&G. There is less random things to deal with so you don't need the uber potential to compensate.
OK so I just got Domus' citation on the local forum about MR and all units effected spells you can use MR but it does not stack as per TK FAQ regarding Casket of Souls. Congrats to GW for not making a general FAQ to clarify the issue. In addition congrats to me for acting like Chuck and posting after after a previous post. Yay!
Welcome to my world Jeff. I think GW needs to put out an updated book, like a new Little rule book, LRB, so that we can get modificatons to new FAQ's and Rulings that are spread all over there online crap. I know that they will be putting out 8th edition probly in 2010 sometime or early 2011 but they will probly again change basic rules so that we will again need more FAQ's
The VC are going to get toned down for the next 1-2 Capital Imperialis tournaments there in Springfield, Illinois, unless I find mike taking a dragon and hydra in the same freaking army agin geez. But come next Jan./April it will get jazed up a little and become less NECROed. Probably go back to 3 Vamps 1 wight and a coach/Vargh.
chuck
p.s. Joe if you want to cover VC I would like to do that with ya, but we can try and do it like around the november tournament if you want, say prior and I can come into town early if he is still doing it on the 22nd
I did like the show finally finished it the smorning on my way to work, I would like to hear feadback from the commenters on army types to run and what to include. Something that covers an example of an uber army and good composition friendly army, just to give listeners an example of what is bad to face off against if they have never faced the army...
